Benchtop - Workbench type Machining

...has been around for some time. Only recently, however has this type of machining come into it's own right. Reduced manufacturing costs coupled with increased production runs have brought the price point of these machines within the reach of most machine shop enthusiasts.
Once only the purview of model makers and serious hobbyists, these machines have made huge inroads for the average Joe wanting to create a turned piece, mill a pocket, or drill a keyhole. The tide is in your favor when looking for a highly capable machine - like those in a commercial machine shop. Good pricing on great tooling means a fantastic deal for you.

Benchtop Mini Machining Basics

When looking for, using, and caring for your benchtop power tools, it's good the keep the following in mind:

These machines are smaller versions of their classic machine shop cousins. Because they are smaller, it's important to keep that in focus. Do not overload these machines or try to machine parts that are just too big to safely machine. Each of these machines is the best in its class, with unique features not available elsewhere. However, they are not designed to be over taxed. Doing so could put you at risk.

That being said though, these machines are designed for real work. These machines have the strength, power, and accuracy needed to cut serious materials.
