MicroMachining

Micro Milling Machine

To create or manufacture parts based on x,y coordinates you need a mill. While a lathe is great for cylindrical type parts, there are some things it just can't do. This is where a mill comes in. Experienced machinists are familiar with Bridgeports or similar knee mills. Those machines are quite large and just too big for the average benchtop hobby guy. The Micro mill shown here is a good deal for those guys wanting high accuracy but a much smaller form factor.

Micro Machining brings larger metal working machines down to Size (A Small Form Factor)

Why fill your garage with a bunch of large expensive metal working machines when all you need is a smaller form factor? For less that the cost of one larger machine, you could have a COMPLETE micro machining center that sits on a workbench.

Micro Lathe

While mini benchtop lathes are littler versions of traditional machine shop metal working lathes, Micro lathes are even smaller yet. These micro turning machines appeal to home hobbyists, machinists, inventors and tinkers that want accuracy and repeatability but don't want to fill up the garage with large expensive machines.

Micro Mill/Drill Head to create a Micro Combo Lathe/Mill

Add a milling machine head to a micro lathe and you get a combo machine that does the work of two machines. Keep in mind that this type of machine has it's limitations but it also has it's advantages as well. If you find the need to mill flats or grooves on cylindrical parts, this could be the accessory that makes you smile big time.

Proxxon mill/drill head PF230 converts your 34004 Proxxon lathe into a machining center. The mill/drill head PF230 comes with a column size 1-3/8-Inch by 15-3/4-Inch (35 by 400mm) including the necessary mounting bracket and bolts to attach it to the micro lathe.

Micro Drill Press Drilling Machine

When it comes to drilling holes, the best way to drill with repeatability and precision is with a drill press. Drilling micro holes is no small feat either and takes special equipment. Look at this drill machine and I'll bet you can see how this would make that next drilling project go easy as pie...

Micro Mini Band Saw Cutoff Machine

Cutting material just prior to machining is a necessity. You could get material in smaller formats ('cut-to-length') but you'll pay extra for it. Most guys prefer to buy their raw material in standard lengths and then cut what they need just before milling and/or turning their parts to spec. Yes, a hacksaw could do the trick but why kill your arm when there's a machine to do that for you? If your need for cutting materials include irregular shapes, then a mini saw like this might be the ticket. If on the other hand, you tend to cut regular lengths and want to do something else while the saw is cutting away, then you may be interested in an automatic Bandsaw that will shut off when the cut is complete. Both band saws have their advantages.
